Commanders Trail Bengals; What's Next for Second Half?

The Commanders hold a slight lead over the Bengals in the first half during the final preseason game.
In this story:

The Washington Commanders head into the locker room trailing 10-7 to the Cincinnati Bengals in the first half of the final preseason game at FedEx Field.

The Bengals got on the board first, scoring on their opening drive. Backup quarterback Jake Browning led a 10-play, 61-yard drive that ended in a 7-yard touchdown to Andrei Iosivas.

After a pair of punts, the Commanders led their touchdown drive with Jacoby Brissett under center.

Brissett ran the play action and evades a pair of Bengals pass rushers to find undrafted free agent Mitchell Tinsley downfield, who broke a tackle on his way to the end zone.

The Bengals were able to respond with a field goal on the ensuing drive to retake the lead. Brissett then headed to the bench in favor of third-string quarterback Jake Fromm, who will likely play for the rest of the game.

Cincinnati nearly added another score on its final possession for the half, but an interception from Jace Whittaker in the end zone with 16 seconds to go kept it a three-point deficit.

If the Commanders want to finish the preseason with an undefeated record, they will have to make some changes. The majority of the players suiting up in the second half are players on the back end of the roster, so the next 30 minutes could be their last chance to prove themselves before the final cutdown.

The Bengals start off with the ball when the two teams return to the field for the second half. Check out our live updates here.
