On Sunday, the Washington Commanders kicked off their Week 2 matchup against the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High. While they were able to start the season with a huge win over the Arizona Cardinals despite turnover issues, the Commanders started extremely slow ... but eventually were able to cut the lead to 21-14 heading into the half.

Sam Howell and company were able to drive down field to open the game but were forced to settle for a field goal that Joey Slye missed from 49 yards out.

The Broncos, led by Russell Wilson charged right down the field and ended up scoring a touchdown thanks to a Jaleel McLaughlin rushing touchdown to go up 7-0.

The Commanders again got into enemy territory, but similar to their first drive it ended in a field goal. This time Slye was able to hit it, cutting the lead to 7-3. A lead that didn't last long at all as after a roughing the passer call, Wilson connected with Marvin Mims for a 60-yard touchdown to extend their lead to 14-3.

The Commanders offensive line continues to struggle as well, as just one week after giving up six sacks against the Cardinals, Howell was sacked once per drive in their first three drives.

After forcing another Washington punt, the Broncos were able again to pick apart the defense and score a touchdown. This time Wilson connected with Brandon Johnson for the score, as Denver extended their lead to 21-3.

After a Washington punt and a Denver fumble, Howell ended up finding Logan Thomas in the end zone on fourth down to cut the lead to 21-11 after a successful two-point conversion.

The Broncos ended up punting following the touchdown, giving the Commanders one final chance to cut into the lead before the half ended. That they did, as after a big pass from Howell to John Bates they were able to set up a Slye field goal to cut the lead to 21-14.
