Commanders' Jahan Dotson Among NFL's Best Young Receivers?

Jahan Dotson is due for a huge jump in his second season with the Washington Commanders.
In this story:

Washington Commanders second-year receiver Jahan Dotson is hoping his 2023 season looks a lot different than 2022.

While the No. 16 pick in the 2022 draft didn't have a bad rookie year with 523 yards and seven touchdowns, there's potential for growth from the Penn State alum.

Dotson had two recurring themes in his rookie year that prevented him from growing further ... injuries and inconsistency at the quarterback position. If both of those things change this year, Dotson has the potential to be a breakout candidate for the Commanders.

"Staying healthy will obviously help Dotson shine brighter, as will the regular one-on-one coverage he's likely to face working opposite Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel. If Howell can prove to be the above-average starter the Commanders hope he can be, Dotson could emerge as one of the NFL's best young pass-catchers," Bleacher Report writes.

Dotson also looks to benefit from being apart of Eric Bieniemy's offense. For the past five years, Bieniemy led the Kansas City Chiefs to a top-five unit in the NFL. Granted, he did have Patrick Mahomes leading the ship, but Bieniemy's impact should be felt in Washington.

"We're getting our playmakers in space," Dotson said via NFL.com. "That's the biggest thing. We're getting the ball in guys' hands."

If Dotson can flash that playmaking ability he showed at Penn State and his rookie season on a more consistent basis, Washington may extract even more development from its second-year pro.
