If the Washington Commanders are going to make the playoffs for the first time since 2020, it's going to rely heavily on their quarterback play.

The Commanders have yet to show their hand with who's going to be starting under center, but all signs point to Sam Howell being the guy over Jacoby Brissett. While it remains to be seen if Howell is the guy to end Washington's quarterback woes, his play has earned high praise from his teammates thus far.

One of those teammates is second-year wide receiver Jahan Dotson. Dotson spoke glowingly about Howell's play throughout the offseason in a video on the Commanders YouTube Channel.

"He's a special talent," Dotson said. "I truly believe it. I always tell people he makes every throw on the field look so easy. He makes it look effortless. His arm talent is insane and he's just getting better, he's getting smarter every single day and he's getting more comfortable with us. I feel like once he gets comfortable with everyone, the sky is the limit."

Howell's connection with Dotson will be one of the many determining-factors in if Washington's offense is going to improve from last season. Despite missing five games and inconsistent quarterback play, Dotson had a strong rookie campaign last season with 35 receptions for 523 yards and led the team with seven receiving touchdowns.

In Howell's lone start in 2022, Dotson had three catches for 72 yards in Washington's 26-6 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Howell was 11 for 19 for 169 yards, one touchdown and an interception. He also ran for 35 yards and a score.

You can only learn so much about a player from just one start, but Howell's play against Dallas and his performance throughout the offseason has garnered high praise from teammates and coaches. If Howell wins the quarterback competition and lives up to the hype from his teammates, the sky may indeed be the limit for the second-year quarterback.
