Commanders' Terry McLaurin and Jonathan Allen 'Prime Examples,' Says Ron Rivera
The Washington Commanders have long been looked at as a laughing stock of sorts in the NFL, but now, with the ownership change, that might not be the case anymore.
With Ron Rivera doing his best to instill a culture for his players that will breed success, he has detailed two players that are prime examples of what he and the franchise are looking for - Terry McLaurin and Jonathan Allen.
"They are prime examples of the foundation we are trying to build here with this football team. Tough physical players have bought into our culture, and they lead by example," Rivera said.
With Washington undergoing sweeping changes both on and off the field this offseason, it will be that culture that holds everything together. Players living up to the standards set and push teammates to do the same.
Eric Bieniemy is the new offensive coordinator, and now the ownership change, things are changing in the nation's capital, and not just that, but how the team is viewed from the outside as well.
Washington has only been to the postseason three times in the last 15 years, and Rivera revealed that Harris is determined to have the team winning...and winning consistently.
"All of our conversations have been around winning," Rivera said. "Winning is the primary focus, and this group has pledged that they will support us in working towards the goal of making this team a consistent winner."
It all sounds good in theory, but the proof will be in the pudding. Thus far, everything coming out of Harris' mouth has been met with acclaim, and with an emphasis on getting the Commanders back into contention being the driving goal, those "culture leaders" will be tasked with leading the way for this young team.
