Which Commanders LB Can Become 'Household Name'?

The Washington Commanders need someone to step up at linebacker, and Jamin Davis could be the one to do it.

The Washington Commanders have one of the best defensive lines in football, and the team's secondary is in solid hands with safety Kamren Curl at the helm ... but what about linebacker?

While the position has its question marks, there's a young player on the roster who could take another big step in 2023. Fansided believes the NFL's next household name is a Commanders linebacker Jamin Davis.

"Things are only looking up for Davis in 2023. Just looking at his athletic profile alone, the potential is through the roof if further refinements arrive throughout Washington's upcoming training camp," the outlet wrote. "When one adds his willingness to learn and improve, the Commanders just may have themselves a star linebacker in the making."

Davis was the No. 19 overall pick in the 2021 draft, but his career floundered early on. His rookie season included a mediocre 76 tackles, three tackles for loss and no turnovers forced.

But his 2022 campaign was a completely different story.

"Davis had a mini-breakout season, allowing a completion percentage of 63.5 percent, a passer rating of 86.6, and only three missed tackles. This went along with improvements in tackles and sacks for good measure," Fansided concluded.

If Davis' progression jumps as rapidly as it did from year one to year two, the Commanders are looking at another star piece to lead the defense alongside names like Curl, Chase Young and Daron Payne.

Washington has been primarily defense-led in the Ron Rivera era, and developing another star for 2023 can keep the Commanders in the NFL's top tier on that side of the ball.
