NFL Head Coach Rankings: Where's Commanders' Ron Rivera?

NFL head coach rankings have been released and out of the 31 other NFL coaches, where does Commanders head coach Ron Rivera rank?
In this story:

It is the time of the season when everyone makes lists for best players, most valuable, etc., and now it's the head coach's turn.

With Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera entering his fourth season as the main man, many are bullish about what his team can do next season. Despite not having a winning season thus far in Washington, Rivera has the organization's backing.

CBS Sports has ranked all 32 NFL head coaches ahead of the new season, with Rivera being ranked at No. 21.

"His fatherly leadership has helped ground an oft-dysfunctional organization, and he knows how to deploy a talented defensive front," CBS Sports writes. "But the annual flirtation with middling QBs has a cost. Rivera hasn't led a winning season in six years, and he hasn't coached a playoff victory since 2015, when Cam Newton won MVP and the Panthers made the Super Bowl."

There can be no doubt that Rivera is under pressure next season, especially when Eric Bieniemy, who many are calling the next head coach in waiting, is the offensive play-caller.

Despite all the good off-field things Rivera has done for the Commanders, it is a results business, and having a record of 22-27-1 since coming to Washington isn't going to cut it.

Going with Sam Howell and Jacoby Brissett as the team's quarterbacks have been seen as a big gamble; considering how stout the defense is under Jack Del Rio and the offensive weapons at Bieniemy's disposal, it simply has to work.

If Rivera can somehow get Washington into the playoffs next season, he may still find himself in the top job and higher on the head coach ranking list as a result.
