Commanders Host Michigan CB D.J. Turner on Top-30 Visit; Round 1 Pick?

The Washington Commanders are showing interest in a number of cornerbacks for the NFL Draft.

Cornerback is a position of need for the Washington Commanders that could be a point of emphasis early in the upcoming NFL Draft.

In many mock drafts, cornerback has been the position analysts have the Commanders taking with their No. 16 overall pick.

Their top-30 visits seem to back up the projected selections of cornerbacks, as the Commanders brought Michigan's D.J. Turner in for a visit this week, according to a report by NFL insider Aaron Wilson.

Turner stood out at last month's NFL Combine, posting the fastest 40-yard dash time of any player at 4.26. Since his standout performance in Indianapolis, Turner has been a prospect on the rise. Some even suggest that he could have his name called on Day 1.

But if not, Turner would make sense as a second-round target for the Commanders, yet if they can take one in the first round, it would make more sense to add at another position, like an offensive lineman or tight end.

Turner played 14 games for the Wolverines last season, recording 36 total tackles, one for a loss, one interception, and 10 passes defended. Turner played in Ann Arbor for three years, two of which came as a starter, and is now trending to at least be a second-round pick.

Turner would be a nice addition to the cornerback group, teaming up with Kendall Fuller and Benjamin St-Juste and could be a plug-and-play starter in 2023.
