NFL Rankings: Commanders 'Shock The World'?

Good Morning Football ranked the teams in the NFC in four tiers. Where did the Washington Commanders land?

With training camp over a month away, the 2023 NFL season is within reach, and predictions can finally hold some validity.

The Washington Commanders were the lone team in the NFC East to miss the playoffs. While they've made moves to improve both sides of the ball, some predictions for the 2023 season haven't been kind to Washington.

Good Morning Football broke the NFC into four tiers. Tier one: "big dogs," tier two: "hovering," tier three: "to be determined," and tier four, where the Commanders landed: "shock the world."

"One of the lowest profile teams in the league right now," Kyle Brandt said. "Some really good guys, especially on defense. We love Terry McLaurin, we love Ron [Rivera], the quarterback thing is fascinating. We're still sitting on this Sam Howell thing? I'm going to go shock the world. It would be a shock if they won the division."

The Philadelphia Eagles were the lone NFC East team ranked in tier one. The Dallas Cowboys were in tier two, while GMFB was split on the New York Giants before also putting them in tier two.

Washington's quarterback situation will likely be the deciding factor in if they can get out of the cellar in its division. While head coach Ron Rivera insists there's a quarterback competition, it'd be a shock if Sam Howell wasn't the team' starting quarterback barring an injury.

The former fifth-round pick showed promise in the lone start of his career, throwing and running for a touchdown in a 26-6 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 18 of the 2022 season.

The Commanders have a lot to prove. With all of the change surrounding the franchise, maybe it'll translate to the field and Washington can "shock the world."
