As Netflix searches for three willing participants to profile for Season 2 of their show "Quarterback," Sam Howell of the Washington Commanders would be an interesting person to follow.

He's a first-year starter on a team with a new ownership group led by Josh Harris, a new offensive coordinator in Eric Bieniemy and a coach in Ron Rivera who is widely respected, but seemingly on the hot seat.

Alas, Howell says that while he enjoyed Season 1 of the Netflix show, it's probably not in the cards for him in 2023.

"I did watch the show," Howell said. "It was a great show. I thought they did a great job. I don’t know. I'd have to think about it. Honestly, probably not. Especially this year. I think I would kind of like to focus on football. Not that those guys weren't, but I don't want any distractions or anything like that. I don't know, maybe somewhere in the future, but probably not this year."

Howell would have been interesting to follow because there's such a wide range of outcomes both for him and the Commanders in 2023. It's possible that halfway through the season, it's clear that the former fifth-round pick isn't an NFL starter and he's benched for veteran Jacoby Brissett. It's also possible Howell can play, and on a team that won eight games a year ago with no quarterback stability, he helps turn the Commanders into a playoff contender in 2023.

But ultimately, it sounds as if Howell would rather lay low and attempt to establish himself this season. Two other NFC quarterbacks -- Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles and Justin Fields of the Chicago Bears -- both revealed this week that they have declined opportunities to be profiled in the show. It's not yet clear what three quarterbacks Netflix will follow, and if the league will lean on any stars to take part in the series.

Season 1 of the show followed Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings and Marcus Mariota, then playing with the Atlanta Falcons
