Commanders Announce Verizon and Bud Light Partnering in ‘New Chapter’
The Washington Commanders went through decades of losing football, public embarrassment, and top-level mismanagement.
With a change in ownership and new managing partner Josh Harris in control of the Commanders franchise there is hope renewed that those days will soon be just a bad memory.
While Washington has yet to reach it’s first regular season under Harris, the team looked solid in NFL Preseason Week 2 in a win over the Cleveland Browns.
And now, the franchise has announced two new business deals with major names in the world of branding.
First, on Wednesday the franchise announced their first new corporate partnership had been sealed as Verizon was named the Official 5G Network of the Washington Commanders.
“We’re excited to have Verizon join us in this new chapter of Washington Commanders football,” said team president Jason Wright. “Football is back in the DMV and Verizon will help improve the experience at FedEx Field for fans, players, and coaches.”
As part of the partnership Verizon is also the presenting sponsor of Washington’s practice being held at Joint Base Andrews later this month.
Then, on Thursday morning the team announced Anheuser-Busch and the Commanders had reached a deal as well.
“We are thrilled to partner with Anheuser-Busch again to create a new and improved experience for Commanders fans,” Wright said. “Bringing Anheuser-Busch back to FedEx Field as a partner not only reflects their confidence in our organization, but also their commitment to our fans, who are the most loyal in the NFL.”
While the partnership with Verizon will mainly impact the on-field product, this second one will see the fans in attendance feeling the benefits.
“Bud Light will sponsor several events and giveaways to make 21 and over fan enjoyment easy this season, starting with the newly created annual Commanders Season Kickoff Party,” the team announced via press release. “This year’s event will take place on Friday, September 8 at 5 p.m. at Franklin Park in Northwest D.C.”
Really, this is just the tip of the iceberg with what these two new partnerships could mean for the team and it’s fans.
And it’s also just the beginning of what looks like several promising business opportunities in the near future for this new look Commanders organization.
