‘I Started to Cry!’ Conman Bayless: Cowboys’ Dak Prescott in ‘Hall of Shame’

‘I almost started to cry,” the theatrical conman Skip Bayless says about the Dallas Cowboys quarterback. “Dak Prescott is in my ‘Hall of Shame.”

FRISCO - There are few things in the world of sports journalism more shameful than the con-job theatrics of Skip Bayless, who continues to grasp for relevancy by attaching him himself to “his” Dallas Cowboys …

Or by attacking “his” Dallas Cowboys, which he is now doing while truth to use two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Dak Prescott as his punching bag.

“When I first saw this question, I first started to laugh … and then I almost started to cry,” Bayless said in a response to an audience question about Dak’s Hall of Fame candidacy. “Dak Prescott is in my ‘Hall of Shame.”

Prescott is certainly a lightning rod for discussion. As Dak has suggested, when the national sports media needs a segment or space to fill, all things “America’s Team” represent an easy go-to.

He also acknowledges his part in his league-leading 15 interceptions in 2022 in what was otherwise a successful 12-5 playoff campaign for Dallas.

Prescott projecting as a Hall of Famer? That is frankly not presently a conversation concern for most NFL watchers.

But “Hall of Shame”? Beyond the juvenile wordplay, a long-time Bayless crutch, it’s a well-off-the-mark cheap shot in a series of many fired at Prescott by Bayless, who has over the years maligned icons like Tom Landry, Troy Aikman and LeBron James in similar ugly fashion.

Bayless demonstrates here once again that he’s not a journalist or an analyst providing insight, but rather an actor … and a talentless one.

There are thousands of people still falling for Bayless’ “I’m a Cowboys fan” lie and that - and not anything NFL Man of the Year Prescott has ever done, on or off the field - is the real shame here.
