Dak Prescott & CeeDee Lamb: Cowboys On 'The Same Page' for Vikings?

Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb has stated the importance of being one the same page as quarterback Dak Prescott after two interceptions were cashed in for touchdowns against Green Bay on Sunday.

Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb enjoyed a career day against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field last Sunday. The 23-year-old had 11 receptions for 150 yards and two touchdowns.

But the game was marred by two Dak Prescott throws in Lamb's direction that ended in interceptions. The Packers cashed in both for touchdowns, and for Lamb, it's all about getting on the same page as his quarterback.

"Obviously, you got to be on the same page as your quarterback no matter what route you're running," Lamb said. "Just being on the same page as him is very important. He has a lot of trust in me to run my route. I just got to do my ... part."

While many detractors came for the head of Prescott due to those interceptions, Lamb also knows that the route-runners shoulder some blame.

"There was a couple route adjustments, wasn't nothing too crazy," Lamb said on Prescott's two interceptions. "It's not like I ran the wrong route, just, you know the angle of departure. Small things."

Well, kinda.

Those "small things" keep head coach Mike McCarthy up at night and, as we saw on Sunday, can be the difference between winning and losing.

But to Lamb's explanations ...

In the case of the first Dak interception, sources tell CowboysSI.com that it was actually Dalton Schultz who ran a route with the slightest wrong angle, allowing his defender to roam into Lamb's area to make the pick.

In the case of the second, Lamb ran beyond the safety on an option route when he should've cut in front of the defender's face. In other words, he did indeed literally "run the wrong route.''

Despite the two interceptions that were in Lamb's direction, the receiver still feels good about the connection between himself and Prescott.

"I feel personally us as a quarterback-receiver duo, we for sure can grow, but I like where we are headed,'' he said.

Dallas is 6-3 and headed to take on the one-loss Minnesota Vikings for a Sunday showdown, and part of what we will see is a matchup of receivers from the same draft class. Justin Jefferson (Pick No. 22) and Lamb (Pick No. 17) were taken in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Jefferson is in serious form (already over 1,000 receiving yards through nine games), and for Lamb, the Vikings star is the best at the position.

"He's doing things that haven't been done in this league ... He's been the best at the position," Lamb said of Jefferson. "I'm a big fan of him, no hard feelings, it's just us grinding, we're both trying to be the best at the position and right now he's on top."

Perhaps that is the perfect piece of motivation for Lamb to correct the "small things" ahead of Sunday's showdown.
