Cowboys CeeDee Lamb: 'Best WR in NFL!' Predicts Dak Prescott

“I’ll say it,'' says Dak Prescott at this week's minicamp at The Star. "I believe it. I think CeeDee Lamb will be the best receiver in this league, honestly.''

Although he isn't a free agent for another two years, receiver CeeDee Lamb is in line for a massive payday - one that the Dallas Cowboys will probably be more than happy to dish out if teammate Dak Prescott's prediction comes true.

“I’ll say it,'' said Prescott at this week's minicamp at The Star. "I believe it. I think (Lamb) will be the best receiver in this league, honestly.''

With his fellow 2020 first-round receiver in Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings also set for a big extension, Lamb could be in perfect position to get a good deal himself. Just how big that extension will be, though, is obviously yet to be seen.

For now, the best we can do is speculate about how much money he's in line for. The easy part is the APY; it's got to be $20 million plus, right? The fourth-year Cowboys receiver is coming off the best season of his career, hauling in 107 receptions for 1,359 yards and nine touchdowns - all of which represent career highs.

Not only did he put together a career year, but he has increased his production each season as well. His rookie season saw him record 74 receptions for 935 yards and five touchdowns, followed up with 79 receptions for 1,102 yards and six touchdowns in his second year.

While Lamb is certainly worthy of a large extension, the aforementioned Jefferson extension could play a part in how much money he gets. Dallas also has to consider an upcoming Prescott extension, as his contract expires after next season. ... though a Dak deal would actually open up room for a Lamb deal ... not to mention creating money for other new contracts for guys like Tony Pollard, Trevon Diggs, Terence Steele and Micah Parsons.

Lamb is undoubtedly due for a big payday, one that will keep him in Dallas for the foreseeable future. Until then, though, he's made it clear that contract talks won't distract him from putting together an even better 2023 season. And Prescott has made it clear that such a performance is on the horizon.

"Confident guy, very smart,'' said Prescott of the top-weapon in Dallas' new and just-nicknamed "Texas Coast Offense.'' "He’s really only scratched the surface in what he’s capable of doing. …This is just the beginning for him.”
