Cam Newton vs. QB 'M*****F*****s'! NFL MVP to Work Out at Auburn Pro Day
FRISCO - Are you an NFL team interested in a "star quarterback''? Cam Newton has a message for you.
"Ain't 32 m*****f******s better than me,'' Newton said in a video released Monday on Twitter, announcing that he will be throwing at Auburn's Pro Day on Tuesday, the 33-year-old former AU star and NFL MVP noting that "these randoms keep getting jobs" in the league.
"I'm seeing a lot of people toying the idea and it's official. I will be throwing at Auburn's Pro Day Tuesday," Newton said.
Newton did not play in 2022 but he did make 15 starts for the New England Patriots in 2020 before being released by coach Bill Belichick.
Part of the logic (and we always thought this would apply to the Dallas Cowboys with Dak Prescott, too): Newton is just good enough, and plenty colorful enough, as a backup to create a "quarterback controversy'' that some locker rooms simply wish to avoid.
He ended up reconnecting with the team that drafted him No. 1 overall in 2011, the Carolina Panthers, and he appeared in eight games with Carolina in 2021, making five starts.
During that stint, he threw for 684 yards, four touchdowns and five interceptions ... but also rushed for five scores, a talent he also showed off in New England and a dimension that always made him one of the NFL's most challenging QBs to game-plan against.
He was the starter for nine seasons in Carolina, and while his "32 m*****f******s'' (a reference of course to the number of starting QBs in the NFL) obviously suggests he'd like to work his way back on top of the heap ...
A Pro Day at his old school is at least a way to catch some eyes ... and maybe open some eyes.
