Dalton Deuce? Cowboys Linked to NFL Draft Top TE
If the Dallas Cowboys have their apparent way, their starting tight end will at least carry the first name "Dalton."
As the Cowboys ponder their fate in the 27th slot in the upcoming NFL Draft's premier round, Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid has emerged as an intriguing option as the expansive list of prospects met grows by the minute at the NFL Scouting Combine. Per NFL.com's Dan Parr, Kincaid, one of the top-ranked incoming tight ends has met with the Cowboys, as well as the Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers with workouts fully underway in Indianapolis.
Dallas' tight end picture, continuing to search for long-term stability in the post-Jason Witten era, is relatively muddled with Dalton Schultz due to hit free agency. Cowboy tight ends earned 865 yards last season, 577 going to the arms of Schultz and a majority of the outlier going to rookies Jake Ferguson and Peyton Hendershot.
Kincaid capped off his career in Salt Lake City as a vital part of the Utes' Pac-12 championship run, earning 890 yards on 70 receptions en route to the Rose Bowl. He will not be partaking in any drills in Indianapolis as he recovers from a back injury. Over three collegiate seasons, Kincaid earned 1,414 yards and 16 scores, the latter tied for the seventh-highest mark in program history.
Of course, Dallas' interest might all be for naught unless they move up, as Kincaid should generate significant interest moving forward. Nonetheless, it's intriguing to see the team potentially prepare for a post-Schultz era and could hint at their offensive outlook moving forward.
