Cowboys Fans Outraged: Dak Prescott Screwed Out Of Award Given to 49ers' Brock Purdy?

Despite winning four separate fan votes, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott lost the FedEx Air Player of the Year to Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers.

Thursday night's NFL Honors created more than its fair share of controversy, with several award winners differing from the common consensus.

Surprisingly, one of the smaller awards may have created more controversy than any other. In the past month, the NFL ran four separate polls on X asking fans to vote for the FedEx Air Player of the Year (which have all been conveniently deleted), and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott won the vote all four times.

Despite those results, it was San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy who took home the award on Thursday night.

Keep in mind that the NFL's official website states that fan voting is part of the criteria for this award, only adding to the confusion.

"Now in its third decade, the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Year Awards will once again honor the best quarterback and running back performances of the season," the NFL's website reads. "Fans can help celebrate these standout athletes by voting for the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Year."

Unsurprisingly, Cowboys fans were irate after Prescott was seemingly robbed, and took to social media en masse to voice their grievances.

"Explain how Dak won 4/4 polls and you still decided to ignore it and not even choose him," one fan replied on X.

"What was the point of all the polls you made just to not use any of them?" another user wrote.

This wasn't the first time this season that Prescott has been slighted in such a poll. He was previously up for FedEx Air Player of the Week after throwing for 279 yards and four touchdowns in a Week 18 win against the Washington Commanders, which clinched the NFC East title for Dallas. Later on, the NFL deleted the poll and replaced Prescott with Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

Between these two slights in just over a month, the NFL may have some explaining to do in regard to its treatment of Prescott.
