Cowboys' Micah on 'Malicious' Hit On Deion's Colorado Star

"We need to protect our brothers here, man. Listen, life is way bigger past football, but this right here is not OK. Travis Hunter, you don't deserve that." - Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons on the "malicious'' hit against coach Deion Sanders' star player at Colorado.

FRISCO - Nobody in all of football, on any level, is more in "attack mode'' that Dallas Cowboys defensive superstar Micah Parsons. But there is a difference between an "attacking'' hit and a "malicious'' one ... and Parsons is drawing that line in review of a hit against Colorado star Travis Hunter.

"I thought that guy should have gotten (an) ejection," Parsons said of Colorado State defensive back Henry Blackburn, terming the collision "malicous'' and "super-dirty.'' "That was something that you hate to see in football."

Hunter left Saturday's emotion-charged "Rocky Mountain Showdown'' game after the hit and has been hospitalized. The game gained the national spotlight largely due to Deion Sanders' program-turnaround presence as the first-year coach of the Buffaloes, who won in double-OT and are now 3-0 to start the season.

Parsons said Blackburn "went around" a teammate just to hit Hunter and said that type of hit has no place in college football or the NFL.

"We need to protect our brothers here, man," said Parsons, the star of the 2-0 Cowboys and a candidate not only for NFL Defensive Player of the Year but also for MVP. "Listen, life is way bigger past football, but this right here is not OK. Travis Hunter, you don't deserve that."

Parsons encouraged the sophomore Hunter - a two-way star for CU - to "keep balling." ... but that will take a while, as Sanders said Hunter is expected to miss three weeks with a lacerated liver. And Hunter himself is keeping his spirits up - spirits that are surely buoyed by Micah's support.

"Something like that is going to happen on the field sooner or later," Hunter said. "You just got to get up and fight again. That's what I tried to do, get up and fight. Good thing the doctors stopped me."
