Cowboys' Micah Parsons Blasts Giants’ Daniel Jones Decision

Dallas Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons took a shot at the New York Giants for leaving quarterback Daniel Jones out to dry in Sunday's 40-0 victory for America's Team.

The Dallas Cowboys started their season on the highest note possible, obliterating the division rival New York Giants 40-0 on Sunday night.

For everyone in the Cowboys' organization, Sunday's win was a cathartic experience. The defense absolutely dominated, the offense did more than enough to win and even the special teams shined with a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown.

On the other hand, the Giants received plenty of well-deserved criticism for their poor showing. In particular, their decision to leave quarterback Daniel Jones in when the game was well out of reach was widely criticized across the NFL world. Even one of the Giants' opponents, Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons, believes New York did its quarterback a disservice.

“It’s called protecting your guy. You know, something I thought the Giants should’ve done,” Parsons said on his Bleacher Report podcast, via the New York Post. “I don’t think Daniel Jones should’ve been in that game in the fourth quarter. I thought they should’ve protected him and pulled him out. And barring injury, their season will be over without Daniel Jones.”

Ignoring the score, Jones took an absolute beating on Sunday night. The Giants quarterback took a whopping seven sacks, including one by Parsons, and 12 total hits on the night. Even when he wasn't getting hit, Jones was running for his life on practically every play.

“That’s your franchise quarterback and he’s out there with a backup offensive line still getting sacked and hit. I just didn’t understand," Parsons said. "Maybe it was a you know, prove-it moment by the Giants, I have no idea. A learning lesson, who knows? But I thought Daniel Jones should’ve got pulled out, so technically it’s not benched.”

Jones signed a four-year extension worth $160 million in March, but his first game since signing that contract was nothing short of a nightmare. The former No. 6 overall pick finished the game completing 15 of 28 passes for just 104 yards and two interceptions, one being a pick six. It's hard to pin all the blame on him when his offensive line was practically non-existent, but it was still a miserable showing all around.

The Cowboys face the Giants once again in Dallas on Nov. 12, and for Jones' sake, hopefully New York learned its lesson from this disastrous performance.
