Dallas Cowboys 'Double L's': Micah Parsons Reveals 'Positives of Failure' Mindset
The Dallas Cowboys' season theme has been "Carpe Omnia,'' but against the Arizona Cardinals, it was coach Mike McCarthy's team that got "seized.'' But to Micah Parsons, the good thing to come out of Sunday's 28-16 loss is that the team will learn from its mistakes.
"The positives of failure is that you always learn," said Parsons. "You never really lose. You lose in a moment that sucks, but the positive is you always learn. You never want to take a 'double-L.' Never want to 'lose' and not 'learn.' You always want to lose and learn and fix your mistakes.
"We're human. No one's perfect. We've played perfect ball but, last week just wasn't perfect."
So many things did indeed turn out "imperfect last week.'' ...
Dallas' defense was punched in the mouth on the opening drive thanks to Arizona's run game and never recovered as the Cardinals did as they pleased.
Over 200 rushing yards were given up by Dan Quinn's unit in what was no doubt a flashing light for opposing teams as a way to dismantle the much-vaunted defense led by Parsons.
The penalties reared their ugly heads again ... and in a big way as the Cowboys had 13 enforced penalties which for the most part, halted any promising drives in their tracks.
"We were beating ourselves," Parsons said. "Obviously the penalties and people coming out of their gaps, and stuff like that, but everything's fixed, it's getting fixed and we're looking forward to proving it this week."
The Cowboys take on Bill Belichick's New England Patriots team that despite their 1-2 record has the ninth-best defense in the NFL for points allowed per game (19.7), so Dak Prescott and the offense will have its work cut out to fix its red zone issues.
The offense is one issue. The defense is another.
Dallas coordinator Dan Quinn stated that at halftime of the New York Jets game the defense was "pissed off" after allowing 10 points in a half before winning 30-10. Well, they conceded 28 in four quarters against the Cardinals. How angry will they be on Sunday at AT&T Stadium?
One would imagine that Micah-led Dallas has a big point to prove. ... and at least one "L'' to avoid.
