Cowboys Draft Another Weapon, Select Local TCU WR Quentin Johnston: NFL Mock

The Cowboys bolster the offense and give Dak Prescott another weapon in this mock draft.

When the Dallas Cowboys are finally on the clock in April with the No. 26 pick, there are multiple directions they could go.

Some mock drafts have them selecting superstar running back Bijan Robinson out of Texas while others have them adding defensive talent  to bolster an already elite unit for coordinator Dan Quinn.

However, in Bucky Brooks' latest mock draft for NFL.com, he didn't go with either of those two options. Instead, he has the Cowboys drafting an elite receiver to pair with CeeDee Lamb in TCU Horned Frogs pass-catcher Quentin Johnston.

Rd. 1 No. 26 - Quentin Johnston - WR (TCU)

The Cowboys must improve the WR corps to help Dak Prescott regain his Pro Bowl form. Johnston is a speedster with the big-play potential to take advantage of one-on-one coverage on the outside.

If the Cowboys elect to go receiver with their first-round pick, keeping Johnston local would be a smart move. In his final season at TCU Johnston recorded 1,069 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 60 receptions.

A second receiver might not be the most pressing need for the Cowboys, but drafting one could open up the offense even further.

Dallas' leading receiver last season was Lamb, who recorded 107 receptions for 1,359 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. After Lamb, though, it was a sizeable gap to tight end Dalton Schultz with his 577 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 57 receptions.

Until the Cowboys are on the clock in April, there is no telling what route they will go with their first-round pick. Drafting Johnston, though, would provide Dak Prescott another weapon - and make a potent offense that much harder to stop.
