Dallas Cowboys Open As Favorites Over Philadelphia Eagles in 1st-Place NFC East Showdown

FRISCO - Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said he would spend his Sunday watching the NFL's Week 13 marquee game, "scouting'' the San Francisco 49ers' showdown at the Philadelphia Eagles - a duel with major playoff implications for all three teams.

Dallas coach Mike McCarthy said the same, vowing that his team would "catch our breath'' with the weekend off following Thursday's win over Seattle and then start prepping for Week 14, when the Eagles come to AT&T Stadium.

"We'll be ready!'' promised McCarthy.

So ... what did Prescott see? What must McCarthy "be ready'' for?

Coach Nick Sirianni's emotionally out-of-control Eagles were crushed at home against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13, losing 42-19. And as a result? Despite having a 10-2 record and an earlier win over 9-3 Dallas, the Eagles have opened as underdogs against the Cowboys for the Week 14 NFC East showdown.

Yes, the Cowboys are three-point home favorites over the Eagles for Week 14's "Sunday Night Football'' tilt - a rematch of when the two teams played at Lincoln Financial Field in Week 9, the Eagles defeated the Cowboys 28-23.

McCarthy's Cowboys have won four in a row since being defeated by the Eagles, with quarterback Dak Prescott and company averaging 42 points per game in wins over the New York Giants, Carolina Panthers, Washington Commanders and Seattle Seahawks.

Cowboys Predict ‘We’ll Be Ready! for Eagles' After ‘Catching Our Breath’

A Cowboys win would allow Dallas to tie the Eagles atop the NFC East. But the Eagles maintain an advantage as still have a pair of remaining matchups with the lowly New York Giants, and a battle with the 3-10 Arizona Cardinals sandwiched in between. ... while the Cowboys have games against the Eagles, Bills, Miami Dolphins and Lions left on their slate before closing at Washington.

No promises here, except for the one from McCarthy: "We'll be ready!''
