Dallas Cowboys 'Opportunity': Is Brandin Cooks Key To Dak Prescott Offensive Explosion?

It took six weeks, but Dallas Cowboys receiver Brandin Cooks finally showed what he could do as part of Mike McCarthy's "Texas Coast Offense" against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Cooks would catch all four targets for 37 yards and a touchdown in the 20-17 win at SoFi Stadium. For the veteran, who was acquired via trade in the offseason, he simply grabbed his opportunity with both hands.

"I think it was just one of those things that the opportunity showed its hand," Cooks said. "Like I've always said, I'm just gonna trust the process and when the opportunity comes, I'm gonna try to take advantage of it. It just happened to be on Monday night."

With Cooks now having 13 catches and 103 yards through seven games, the thought is that he can now use his performance against the Chargers as a springboard to even better things going forward. ... maybe even to the Dallas offense looking truly "explosive'' moving forward.

But that is easier said than done.

The Cowboys offense under McCarthy has been up-and-down through six games as they have struggled to find consistency in their play.

"I just hope we can continue to build on that for many reasons," Cooks said. "To help guys around me, to help CeeDee [Lamb] stay open or [Michael Gallup], whatever the case may be. I look at it as continuing to trust the process, and when your number is called, be there to make the play."

The Cowboys face the Los Angeles Rams at AT&T Stadium on Sunday as they look to build on their win over the Chargers.

With the San Francisco 49ers stumbling and the Philadelphia Eagles stretching their lead, Dallas knows the importance of what a win would do to their overall chances of keeping pace with them.

But to do that, the Cowboys must find that "consistency" in their offense, and if they do - maybe combined with some "explosiveness'' - then on Sunday, they could have their fifth win of the season.
