Brandin Cooks Trade 'The Best Thing for Me!' - Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb
When the Dallas Cowboys traded with the Houston Texans for receiver Brandin Cooks this offseason, it helped strengthen their offense, and gave quarterback Dak Prescott another reliable veteran to work with.
However, Cooks has already made a difference for the Cowboys without having played a single snap. Rather, his impact has been felt within the receivers room, especially to CeeDee Lamb.
"I'm a visual learner and I'm just watching him as he runs his routes, the way he preps, the way he practices, how he goes about his business. I love each and every part of it," Lamb said. "He's a professional to a 'T'. My coach told me bringing him in will be the best thing for me, and it is."
Lamb has certainly already established himself as one of the top young receivers in the NFL, even before Cooks' arrival. The fourth-year standout has improved each season, coming off a career-year with 107 receptions for 1,359 yards and nine touchdowns.
Pair him with Cooks, who has produced six 1,000-yard receivers, and the Cowboys suddenly have one of the best receiving duos in the league. Beyond that, though, he provides a veteran presence both on and off the field.
Of course, Lamb is not the only receiver that Cooks has had a positive impact on so far during his tenure in Dallas, with Michael Gallup detailing the lessons he's already imparted.
"He tells everybody, ‘When you're done with this, you're done with that, make sure you stretch," Gallup said. "Make sure you do what you're supposed to do so you can stay in league as long as you possibly can.’"
"That's one of the biggest things right now. Football, that's going to be there. We got in the league for a reason. But he's over here talking about how you stay in the league.”
Cooks will undoubtedly help the Cowboys win plenty of games this fall, further opening up the offense for Prescott to go to work. But more, he'll help mentor young receivers like Lamb and Gallup as they continue to take their production to another level ... and for a long time.
