How'd we do in the way we've pieced it together over the course of the day? Not bad  ... Dallas Cowboys 2023 schedule word is (we think) ...

Wk 1 DAL at Giants SNF

Wk 2 Jets at DAL (rumor)

Wk 3 DAL at AZ (rumor)

Wk 4 Patriots at DAL

Wk 5 DAL at 49ers SNF

Wk 9 DAL at Eagles

Wk 10 Giants at DAL

Wk 11 Cowboys at Panthers

Wk 12 Thanksgiving Commanders at DAL (3:30 CT, CBS)

Wk 13 Seahawks at DAL (TNF)

Wk 14 Eagles at DAL

Wk 15 DAL at Bills (rumor)

Wk 18 DAL at Commanders

And away we go! We think we've got a way to start the season ... It sounds like an old tradition is coming back. From 2012-2019, the Giants and Cowboys met in Week 1 six of those eight seasons. And in 2023? Multiple reports out of New York have the Dallas Cowboys playing in Week 1, the night of Sept. 10, on "Sunday Night Football.''

The last five Giants vs. Cowboys openers were in DFW ... so it looks like the Big Apple gets a turn ...

Word also has it that Giants at Dallas will take place in Week 10 on Nov. 12.

Oh, and it sounds like it's Washington at Dallas on Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 23 at AT&T Stadium.

Ol' Dallas Mavericks coach Dick Motta used to respond to the in-depth drama of the NBA schedule release by sardonically noting, "Looks like we've got 41 at home and 41 away.''

Which was true. But then - and most certainly now, especially as it relates to the NFL - lives literally revolve around this thing. And now, after 48 hours of "leaks'' (many of them intentional, as nobody manipulates the news like the NFL), we have ourselves a Dallas Cowboys schedule for 2023.

What we know rolling through Thursday:

-BREAKING: The Cowboys and 49ers will get after it again as they renew their rivalry in an October game on Sunday Night Football. Dallas at San Francisco will be the Sunday night game in Week 5 of the 2023 NFL season.

The Cowboys have been ousted from the playoffs by the 49ers in each of the last two seasons. A chance for revenge comes on October 8 on NBC and Peacock.

-The home and away games, in no order yet, are these:

Home: New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders, Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Rams, New England Patriots, New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks

Away: New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders, Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Chargers, Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers.

-Dallas will have its usual six games devoted to NFC East matchups.

-Dallas will be facing the AFC East and the NFC West.

-Dallas will have nine road games and eight home games (which goofs with that old Motta chestnut, doesn't it?)

-Dallas is not traveling out of the country this year (maybe Mexico City in 2024?) but will be on TV ... a lot. One of those games with be at home on Thanksgiving, but we now know the Jets are playing on the first-ever "Black Friday,''on Nov. 24, against the Dolphins. So Aaron Rodgers will play for the Jets that day.

-Our Richie Whitt has suggested that Rodgers and the Jets might be the Week 1 "Sunday Night Football'' opener.

With much more to come from CowboysSI.com on the toughest patches, the easiest stretches, the marquee meetings and fun game-by-game predictions ... (and the schedule done officially tonight) … stuff!

- Detroit will reportedly be a part of the opening game of the 2023 season, kicking off against the World Champion Chiefs on the night of Thursday, September 7. Last time the Lions got this treatment? That was 20 years ago.

- Rematching of the NFC Championship Game between the Eagles and 49ers? That will be played in Week 13 on FOX at 3:25pm CT
