‘Doomsday’ Cowboys to Win Super Bowl, Predicts NFL Analyst
A total of 34 NFL Media analysts were recently asked to predict what team will win Super Bowl LVIII. a total of 33 picked a team other than the Dallas Cowboys. But as far as Cowboys fans are concerned, all it takes is one.
NFL Media's Eric Edholm was the lone analyst polled who predicted that the Cowboys would win the Super Bowl, and he has a defense that he compared to one of the greatest in team history helping them edge out the Cincinnati Bengals.
"This might be Joe Burrow's final chance to win one with both his star receivers, but this Cowboys' defense could evoke memories of the 'Doomsday' units of yore -- with just enough juice on offense for Dallas to win the franchise's first ring in nearly 30 years," he wrote.
Defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is back for a third season in Dallas, despite receiving head coaching interest in each of the past two springs. Why? Maybe it's hard to blame Quinn for not wanting to leave do-it-all-defender Micah Parsons, who has been an All-Pro in each of his first two seasons. He'll also have perhaps the best cornerback duo in the NFL at his disposal with Trevon Diggs and former Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore.
If quarterback Dak Prescott is able to cut down on the 15 interceptions he threw last year, Dallas making a deep postseason run isn't out of the question.
With that said, the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers are the two favorites to win the NFC, and NFL Media's Super Bowl predictions reflect that. The Eagles and 49ers had seven and four analysts predict them as Super Bowl Champions, respectively. The Cowboys will have to get through both of those teams before potential Super Bowl matchups with the Bengals, Kansas City Chiefs or Buffalo Bills come into play.
