Cowboys Schedule: The ‘Thursday Night’ Playoffs Problem

The good news is both of Dallas' back-to-back Thursday games are in the friendly confines of AT&T Stadium.

The Dallas Cowboys are no strangers to playing on Thursday or in prime time. During the 2023 season, the Cowboys will play in six prime time games and on Thursday twice, in back-to-back weeks because of their Thanksgiving game.

The good news is both Thursday games are in the friendly confines of AT&T Stadium, during a favorable stretch of four out of five games at home from Week 10 to Week 14.

In Week 12 on Thanksgiving, the Cowboys host NFC East foe Washington Commanders and in Week 13, the Seattle Seahawks come to town.

Dallas' game against the Seahawks will be on Prime Video's Thursday Night Football. TNF will feature matchups between all 14 playoff teams from last season. This comes after a lackluster 2022 season slate of rough matchups.

The 2023 Amazon Prime matchups look much better. Sports Illustrated's Jimmy Traina reached out to TNF's lead voice, Al Michaels for his take on the schedule.

“Love the way we come out of the gate," Michaels said. "Three ‘A’ grade games. Two Aaron Rodgers games. Baltimore-Cincinnati, another good one. League did us a solid.

“I was raring to go the minute I saw the whole slate. Already thinking of story lines for each game, of which there is no shortage.”

On one of the biggest shopping days of the year, Prime Video will make history with the presentation of the very first NFL Black Friday game on November 24, as the Jets host the Dolphins.

“Great idea," Michaels said. "Tens of millions recovering from the prior day’s tryptophan hangover will love it. Rodgers-Tua, a marquee matchup on any day.”

Wins football fans and for Prime Video... For the Cowboys, who have the third-best odds to win the NFC Conference, hopefully two Thursday wins as well. The late-season matchup with Seattle begins a tough stretch of games for Dallas, playing four straight playoff teams from 2022 (Seattle, Philadelphia, Bills, Miami), starting on Thanksgiving.
