Dallas Cowboys' TNF Win Over Seattle Seahawks Produces Record TV Ratings on Amazon Prime

As NFL fans continue to adjust to Thursday Night Football being streamed exclusively, as opposed to being on a three-letter network, a record amount of viewers found their way to Amazon Prime Video to hear Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit broadcast a Dallas Cowboys win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 13.

According to Sports Media Watch, a 41-35 Dallas win over Seattle "averaged a 7.3 rating and 15.26 million viewers on Amazon Prime Video," both of which are the highest marks since the streaming service became the home of TNF in 2022. The article adds that at its highest point, the TNF matchup had 17.76 million viewers.

The Cowboys, of course, are the biggest brand in the NFL, so it's not surprising to see them set a record for viewership. But this was perhaps the perfect storm, because it ended up being one of the best games of the season and had massive playoff implications. In addition to drawing significant eyeballs from Dallas and Seattle Seahawks, fans of the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers, among others, had a reason to tune into this game even if their team wasn't playing.

This comes a week after the Cowboys Thanksgiving Day throttling of the Washington Commanders on CBS averaged over 41 million viewers, the third-highest rated regular-season game in NFL history. That was despite it being a non-competitive game, with quarterback Dak Prescott and the Cowboys crushing the Commanders 45-10.

'Jake's Crazy - And A Baller!' Cowboys Rave About Tight End

There's a good chance that Dallas will put up another all-time rating in Week 14, when they'll welcome the division-rival Eagles to AT&T Stadium on Sunday Night Football. The 9-3 Cowboys are slight favorites over the 10-2 Eagles, with the outcome this game potentially deciding the winner of the NFC East and the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC. Philadelphia previously defeated Dallas 28-23 at Lincoln Financial Field on Nov. 5.

Sunday Night Football -- telecast on NBC and Peacock, with Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth on the call -- typically receives ratings as strong or better as any of the standalone national telecasts. With one of the best rivalries in the NFL on the slate this week, it's entirely possible this will be the highest-rated SNF game of the season.
