Dallas Cowboys Tony Pollard Reveals Thoughts on Workload: 'I Can Handle It!'
If you listen closely, you can hear the doubters of the idea of Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard being the bell cow on offense being extremely quiet right now. Why is that?
Well, through the first three games, Pollard has had a serious workload. In fact, he leads the NFL with 62 carries (San Francisco 49ers' Christian McCaffrey second with 60).
Despite the increased usage, Pollard is still going at 4.3 yards a carry and is averaging 88 yards a game. Not to mention he has 12 receptions on 14 targets for 48 yards as well.
For Pollard, the numbers mean one thing and one thing only.
"It means I can handle it," Pollard said. "I mean, I'm feeling great right now. I'm not have a problem with anything nagging me (injury-wise). I'm ready to go. Whatever they call, I've got."
While the Cowboys sustained an embarrassing 28-16 against the Arizona Cardinals, Pollard showcased his "I got it'' skills as he had 23 rushing attempts for 122 yards while averaging 5.3 yards a carry.
But that effort got glossed over due to Dallas losing the game.
For Pollard, rebounding on Sunday against the New England Patriots - and old pal Ezekiel Elliott, who once defined "bell cow'' around here - is crucial.
“It’s always important to bounce back from a tough loss like that,” Pollard said. “To show the fight that this team has, the willingness to bounce back from adversity. It will be important to bounce back. That game doesn’t define us, we got to move on and get back to work.”
