Cowboys Depth Chart: How Brandin Cooks & Stephon Gilmore Trades Change Dallas
FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys are this week in a double-cork-popping mood after the team first landed cornerback Stephon Gilmore via trade and on Sunday did it again, landing receiver Brandin Cooks.
The salaries are affordable. The sacrifice in trade are minor. The change in the depth chart?
Major.
To wit, as our friend The Athletic's Jon Machota pointed out (with our own version below) ...
OFFENSE
QB Dak Prescott
RB Tony Pollard
WR CeeDee Lamb
LT Tyron Smith
LG Tyler Smith
C Tyler Biadasz
RG Zack Martin
RT Terence Steele
TE Jake Ferguson
WR Brandin Cooks
WR Michael Gallup
DEFENSE
DE DeMarcus Lawrence
DT Neville Gallimore
DT Osa Odighizuwa
DE Micah Parsons
LB Leighton Vander Esch
LB Damone Clark
CB Stephon Gilmore
S Jayron Kearse
S Malik Hooker
S Donovan Wilson
CB Trevon Diggs
CB DaRon Bland
There are some wildcards here. On defense? The Cowboys can't put in stone that Parsons is a defensive end, DB Jourdan Lewis deserves mention, and a run-stopping tackle could be added. (And maybe Quinton Bohanna deserves mention.) On offense? While it seems obvious to us that Tyron and Tyler Smith line up as mentioned above, there are whispers of other ideas.
But overall?
Two trades have fortified the lineup in a very real way ... with more moves to come.
