Cowboys Trade: Texans WR Brandin Cooks On Dallas 'Radar' - Source

If the Texans opt to trade Brandin Cooks, the Cowboys could look to add the veteran receiver to a talented offense, as a source tells CowboysSI.com he's on Dallas' "radar.''

FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys, led by a trio of Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and Tony Pollard, fielded one of the NFL's best offenses - averaging 27.5 points per game on 354.9 yards of total offense.

However, after Lamb the receiving options were less than ideal for Dallas. To make matters worse, the Cowboys' second leading receiver in tight end Dalton Schultz could depart in free agency.

Just in time, it's being reported that the Texans are open to trading veteran receiver Brandin Cooks - and that meshes nicely with this fact: CowboysSI.com is told by a source that the Cowboys have the wideout on their "radar.''

Cooks has been one of the most reliable receivers in the NFL at all three of his stops, with six 1,000-yard seasons. He hit the 1,000-yard mark in both of his first seasons as a Texan, but only recorded 699 receiving yards in 2022 after missing four games - so it isn't unreasonable to assume he could have hit the mark yet again.

Having already requested a trade at the trade deadline last season, Cooks has made it clear he does not want to go through another rebuild. While he will be 30 in September, it seems clear to the brass at The Star that Cooks can contribute to a team looking to contend now.

The Cowboys were serious about this idea at the trade deadline in October, with a second-round pick being a discussion item. Can it be done more affordably now for a Dallas team that has vowed to add "offensive play-maker juice''?

Cooks joining Pollard, Prescott and Lamb would qualify ... and Cooks is now on the radar again at The Star.
