‘Time to Get Back!’ Brandin Cooks Reveals 'Special' Cowboys Goal

Brandin Cooks is coming off a down season with the Houston Texans, but he is feeling rejuvenated after joining the Dallas Cowboys' strong receiver room

The Dallas Cowboys made a couple of huge moves this offseason, and their biggest on the offensive side of the ball was trading for receiver Brandin Cooks.

The receiver position became a bit of a problem for Dallas last season as it struggled to find a capable No. 2 opposite CeeDee Lamb. With the addition of Cooks, who has six 1,000-yard seasons in his nine-year career, the Cowboys are hoping those issues are a thing of the past.

For that to be the case, though, the Cowboys will be counting on Cooks to have a bounce-back season. Cooks' 2022 season was far from his best, as he had just 57 receptions for 699 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games with the Houston Texans. All of those stats were Cooks' lowest marks in his three years with the Texans.

Now, though, Cooks is feeling rejuvenated and ready for a rebound in 2023, in large part due to the offense he is joining.

"It's time to get back," Cooks said on NFL Network's NFL Total Access. "A lot has to come with that. … We’ve got some special guys throughout the offense, all the offensive weapons we have, I'm just going to do my best to the best of my ability, and when we look up at the end of the season, we'll see where we're at."

While Cooks was largely a one-man show throughout his time in Houston, he'll have much more talent around him in Dallas. Lamb is still the clear headliner, but there's also Michael Gallup, who's looking to return to his pre-injury form, and Jalen Tolbert, who figures to play a much greater role in his second season. With the Cowboys' receivers being on the younger side, the veteran Cooks is looking forward to bringing his experience to the unit.

"I think just going into Year 10, being able to have special receivers around me like CeeDee, M.G. and J.T., not only from a production role that I'm expecting but also from a role of being able to lead," Cooks said. "I want to get back to winning, and however that looks, I'm willing to do it."

With Cooks in the fold, the Cowboys are hoping he can help them “get back” to reaching the playoff success that has long eluded them.
