'Get Safe!' Cowboys' Trevon Diggs Calls For Trade of Bills Brother Stefon
As Dallas Cowboys cornerback enjoyed his team's 40-0 shellacking of the New York Giants in Week 1, his brother Stefon didn't fare quite as well.
On Monday night, Stefon Diggs and the Buffalo Bills took on Aaron Rodgers and the new-look New York Jets in the final game of Week 1. Despite a great individual performance for Stefon Diggs, who had 10 receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown, the Bills fell 22-16 in overtime even after Rodgers suffered a season-ending injury.
Opening the season on a loss is one thing, but on Wednesday, Stefon Diggs became the center of attention when a hot mic picked up team reporter Maddy Glab talking negatively about him.
“There’s no control over Stefon Diggs,” Glab said. “Dude’s gonna do what he wants to do. He’ll look in my face and say ‘F you,’…that’s how he treats everybody.”
Despite Glab posting an apology on social media, her words still stung Stefon Diggs and especially his younger brother Trevon.
Trevon Diggs took to social media himself on Thursday to share his thoughts on the situation, even going so far as to urge his brother to get out of Buffalo.
"Tuh! They turn on you so quick," Trevon Diggs tweeted. "Gotta get bro somewhere safe."
Later on Thursday, Stefon Diggs broke the silence himself with a series of tweets, stating how much Glab's comments affected him.
"The audio shared was very hurtful. And was insulting to my character and to how I was raised," Stefon Diggs tweeted in part. "I’ve always treated people how I want to be treated. I greet everyone with smiles and respect. From the people in our cafe to the people that keep our building in clean and in order."
Trevon, 24, and Stefon, 29, are still very close with each other despite having never played together. In fact, Stefon Diggs was in the stands to support his brother during Sunday's Cowboys-Giants game. If Trevon Diggs is urging his brother to make a move, it's definitely something to watch. But ...
As we have detailed often, there are cap realities here. It is not realistically possible for Stefon Diggs to get out of Buffalo The star receiver signed a four-year extension worth $96 million last offseason, making it exceedingly difficult to trade him even if he wants it.
On Sunday, Trevon Diggs will look to avenge his brother's loss as the Cowboys host the Rodgers-less Jets.
