ARLINGTON - The Philadelphia Eagles probably won't be issuing a public apology for the foolishly violent sideline behavior of their “Head of Security” Dom DiSandro, aka "Big Dom.”

And how do we surmise that?

Because of the foolishly arrogant response the Eagles just issued in response to the NFL’s first step in punishing their “bouncer” for having jumped into an altercation last week with San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw.

"This is an ongoing conversation with the NFL,” the Eagles announced, “and we are going to respect the restriction that is currently in place.”

That “restriction in place”? DiSandro has been barred from being on the sideline this week in the Eagles’ “Sunday Night Football” visit to the Dallas Cowboys.

And the Eagles’ cocky response is that they will abide by the decision?

Well, isn’t that special of them to comply with a league rule!

We’re not sure what 10-2 Philly thoughts the other options to be here. Dress “Big Dom” is a mascot costume to disguise and sneak him inside AT&T Stadium?

“Big Dom” is allowed to travel with the team to DFW, but he will presumably have to sit on the bus or in the locker room or in a hotel room awaiting the outcome of the meeting with the 9-3 Cowboys.

And as the league continues reviewing the incident to see if more discipline is needed (it is needed, lest more overwrought sideline stooges decide they too would like to “be involved” with a game), the Eagles should feel fortunate the NFL is allowing this person to “continue to fulfill his role with the team in all other capacities.”

Such as, we presume, gas up the bus? Do some laundry? Be the guy who puts little mints on players’ pillows?

Welcome to Arlington, “Big Dom.” But also, “Do Not Enter.”
