Jerry Jones Talks Trade; Dallas Cowboys Beat Rams 43-20: Live Game Log

The Cowboys welcomed the Los Angeles Rams to town and quarterback Matthew Stafford for a homecoming on Sunday at AT&T Stadium. Dallas gets the win ... and owner Jerry Jones updates the trade situation.

ARLINGTON - The Dallas Cowboys welcomed the Los Angeles Rams to town on Sunday with hopes of extending their home winning streak to 11. It was also Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford's first trip "home'' since joining Los Angeles and winning a Super Bowl.

And it all went very well for Dallas in a 43-20 blowout win that moves the Cowboys to 5-2 ... but maybe moves the Cowboys to not making a move before Tuesday's NFL trade deadline?

Said an otherwise-elated Cowboys owner Jerry Jones after the game about the trade prospects: “It doesn’t look like we’ll be doing anything.”

That can, of course, change. But for now? Satisfaction over a resounding win over the Rams. How did the day unfold? Come with us for a chronological look ...

“I got a bunch of buddies in town that I know still living in the area,” Stafford said. “My family still lives in the area, so they’ll be at the game, which will be fun. It’s always fun going back there, but once the ball’s snapped and we’re playing ball, it’s go out there and try to beat the Cowboys.”

Stafford won a state title while attending Highland Park High School in Dallas, the same school at which Cowboys owner Jerry Jones' grandson won two more recently. In three visits back to Dallas while with the Lions, Stafford was 1-2.

“Every time I go there," Stafford said, "I feel like it’s a really unique challenge.”

The Cowboys are still trying to forget about their embarrassing 42-10 road loss to the 49ers in Week 5, while the Rams hope to take advantage of San Francisco's recent losses to Cleveland and Minnesota to gain some ground in the division race.

As they ready the roster, on Saturday the Cowboys elevated LB Rashaan Evans and TE Eric Saubert from the practice squad, with both players expected to make their debuts.

At 4-2, Dallas is just behind the 6-1 Eagles for the NFC East lead, but Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott isn't focused on catching Philadelphia.

“This is about us running our own race,” Prescott said. “Right now, we’re not looking at anybody else. We know what this league is about. We know how tough it is. We’re just going to run our own race and lock in on who we are.”

Cowboys inactives for Sunday include Tyron Smith and a neck issue.

  • OT Tyron Smith
  • WR Jalen Brooks
  • RB Deuce Vaughn
  • CB Noah Igbinoghene
  • CB Eric Scott Jr.
  • DE Viliami Fehoko Jr.
  • QB Trey Lance (Emergency 3rd QB)
