'I Haven't Done (Bleep)!' Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Dak Prescott Reacts to MVP Hype
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is the current MVP favorite, but the Dallas Cowboys are doing their part to make this season’s award races entertaining. Cornerback DaRon Bland has seen his odds for Defensive Player of the Year skyrocket and quarterback Dak Prescott has found himself in the mix for the league’s most prestigious award.
The Cowboys are 5-1 in their last six games and have re-established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the NFC. Losing badly to the San Francisco 49ers may follow them, but giving Philadelphia a run for their money and blowing out every bad team in their path has raised enough eyebrows.
During this stretch, Prescott has been arguably the best quarterback in football. He has thrown for 18 touchdowns with just two interceptions in the last six games, and while the MVP is a season-long award, this streak has helped bring his statistics toward the top of the NFL leaderboard.
Prescott is completing 70 percent of his passes and has thrown for 23 touchdowns (6.2 percent of his passes) while posting a quarterback rating of 75.3 and a passer rating of 107.4. All five of those metrics have him second among starting quarterbacks.
Subsequently, his MVP odds have risen to +750, behind only Hurts, Patrick Mahomes, and Lamar Jackson.
Prescott discussed the hype surrounding him after America’s Team won big on Thanksgiving.
“It means I’m playing well. Simple as that. Not really [important],” Prescott said. “I’m about one goal and it’s a big team goal and I know if my name’s in there that means we’re playing well.”
The Cowboys are indeed doing just that. At 8-3, they have an outside chance at the NFC East crown, a title that becomes much more accessible with a win when Philadelphia comes to town in Week 14. If not, the fifth seed becomes all but a guarantee, setting up a Wild Card matchup with the mediocre product that ends the season atop the NFC South.
Prescott was quick to give credit to those around him. The run game and receiving corps (aside from receiver CeeDee Lamb) has drawn criticism, but shown flashes of life during the hot streak.
“It gives credit to everything around this team, the organization, the coaches,” Prescott said. “People just handling their business, being prepared. Our process has been amazing … the play-caller’s purpose is clear and precise on everything.”
A herculean performance down the stretch could help shrink the gap between Prescott and Hurts on the ballot, but it would also increase Dallas’ confidence heading into the playoffs. With the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday, the Eagles in Week 14, and a late-season matchup with the Detroit Lions, the Cowboys should get a sizable playoff preview.

How they handle those tests, and ultimately the one(s) in January, will decide their fate, regardless of the hardware Prescott manages to bring home.
“The challenge is just staying true to that process, not getting ahead, not getting overwhelmed, understanding that what I say to myself is I haven’t done s—, you know what I mean,” Prescott concluded. “Regular-season numbers are great, but getting wins, that’s what’s important.”
