'Most Devastating Loss!' Cowboys Ex Tony Romo on Josh Allen's Playoff Failure with Bills
FRISCO - Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo knows playoff heartbreak when he sees it.
He saw it constantly during his otherwise fine 13-year NFL career.
And on Sunday, he's seeing a "new constant'' with Josh Allen.
“This,'' said CBS Sports' Romo, working the Buffalo Bills' 27-24 loss to the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in Sunday's playoffs, "is going to be the most devastating loss, I think, of Josh Allen's career.''
What went wrong? In large part, the Bills had to play Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs ... as he is now an amazing 13-3 in postseason games.
Allen and the Bills cannot match that; Allen will be a load of MVP votes but his playoff record shows him never quite getting over the hump.
And yes, that rings a bell in Dallas, as current NFL analyst Romo's playoff record was but 2-4.
Here's Romo on camera dissecting why Buffalo's loss is especially crushing.
“This is going to be the most devastating loss, I think, of Josh Allen's career because they had things situated for an advantage. They were at home, they worked all year, playing great football, they were coming in, and they started the game great. They were running the ball, and for him, he played great today. He was outstanding. It's always going to fall on his shoulders, him and the head coach ...
"But it's just so hard to take if you're Josh Allen because it's like, 'What else can I do?'''
Romo restated that Allen's biggest problem is simply Mahomes, saying, “The problem is, No. 15 is really good. Patrick Mahomes. He ain't just going to let you do it. You've got to win it and take it from him. To be the man, you've got to beat the man.”
Micah Parsons on Josh Allen: He's a "Crazy Frat Guy.''
And then Romo offered some hope to Bills Mafia that fans in Cowboys Nation once thought was true during his time in Dallas and now hope comes true with heir Dak Prescott at QB.
"The truth is, just keep going doing it,'' Romo said, essentially "to'' Allen. "You'll break through eventually.”
