Cowboys Respond to Derrick Henry Trade Report with Denial

Sources have suggested to us that the Titans have "shopped" Derrick Henry around the NFL. Both the Cowboys and the Eagles have been mentioned prominently here.

FRISCO - A sourced report that the Dallas Cowboys “actively interested” in a trade that would bring Tennessee Titans superstar Derrick Henry has earned a denial from a Cowboys official responding to questions from CowboysSI.com.

“Theres nothing there,” a team source tells us as of Saturday afternoon, even as rumors continue to spread that mentions Dallas’ “yet-to-be-determined compensation packages” for the Titans.

Sources have suggested to us that the Titans are considering a roster rebuild and have therefore "shopped" Henry around the NFL. Both the Cowboys and their NFC East rivals the Philadelphia Eagles have been mentioned prominently here.

But a league source tells us that Philadelphia isn’t presently involved in a Henry swap, despite a Saturday morning tweet from former NFL player Akbar Gbaja-Biamila (who works for CBS and has representation ties with Henry) insisting that the perennial rushing-title contender is "headed" to Philadelphia.

Both the Cowboys and the Eagles have also been rumored to be interested in Texas running back Bijan Robinson, a first-round talent in Thursday’s NFL Draft - a concept that further muddies the idea of trade for Henry and his $10 million salary.

The Cowboys this offseason made major headlines with a pair of moves at running back, with the $10 million tagging of Tony Pollard and the release of Ezekiel Elliott. Is there “nothing there” in terms of an even bigger headline? That is the Cowboys’ position from here inside The Star.
