'That's Gotta Be A Record!' Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott Reflects on 2 Giants Blowouts
The Dallas Cowboys came into a Week 10 home game against the New York Giants feeling “confident” after a tough loss against the Eagles in Philadelphia last week. And maybe it wasn’t hard to feel confident when the quarterback carousel offense of the Giants was coming in with an awful record and off back-to-back losses. ... and given what happened in Week 1 between these two teams.
That confidence was evident early and often. It was shown through the final score with a 49-17 win ... which follows up a previous 40-0 score in the season-opening Dallas-vs.-New York win.
'That,'' Dak Prescott said of the 89-17 two-game total, "has got to be a record!''
Prescott and the offense largely moved the ball with ease in the first half. A 14-yard end around run from CeeDee Lamb, a one-yard grab by Jake Ferguson, a 10-yard grab by Brandin Cooks and a 10-yard run from Prescott all found the endzone.
The Giants offense, on the other hand, was anemic. Their best scoring chance came when Prescott threw an interception on the final play of the first quarter, his sixth of the year. The ball moved a little, but the Cowboys defensive line stuffed a fourth-and-2 attempt. That was the lone time they even crossed midfield. They had to start past it to pass it.
The second half saw a bit more action. Well, at least for a drive or two.
Chunk runs and penalties helped the Giants cross midfield, and capped it off with a Lawrence Cager touchdown early in the third quarter. The rest was Dallas.
'New York, New York': Cowboys Destroy Giants Again
And speaking of records ... Prescott had another big day, completing 26 of 35 passes for 404 yards and five total scores. Lamb and Cooks had huge outings, with 11 catches, 165 total yards and two scores, and nine catches for 173 yards and a touchdown, respectively.
Dallas moves to 6-3 now looks toward a Week 11 matchup against the 1-8 Panthers, and Dak suggests there won't be a letdown after dumping New York to 2-8.
'"I've never been a numbers guy,'' he said. "But I can tell you I've never felt as free and as connected with the guys ... We have a helluva a team, a helluva defense. We just have to make sure we keep putting up points.''
