'They’re Annoying!’ Dak, Zack & Lamb React to Cowboys D
Brothers fight. It’s a part of life and oftentimes a necessary evil of childhood and NFL training camps alike. The occasional scuffle doesn’t diminish the respect the Dallas Cowboys have for one another.
Dallas held its season kickoff event on Wednesday night. The roster took turns answering questions heading into a season with sky-high expectations. It quickly became clear that this roster is not only talented, but harmonious.
Quarterback Dak Prescott, receiver CeeDee Lamb, and guard Zack Martin spoke to the talent on the other side of the line of scrimmage.
“I think it’s a huge confidence,” started Martin. “Going up against those guys every day and seeing them. If you can get that lead and get that rush on the field; I mean we feel it every single day so we know teams around the league are going to have trouble with it, too.”
Dallas’ pass rush generated 54 sacks last season, behind only the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles for the most in football. All-World edge rusher Micah Parsons totaled 13.5 himself. The Cowboys are expecting big things from Parsons and veteran DeMarcus Lawrence in 2023.
Some are hoping Parsons turns it down a notch in practice.
“It’s annoying,” Lamb said. “I must say in practice I am kind of tired of Micah … Having them, given the ability to play fast, play strong, and then play as a collective group, it’s going to be hard to score on them.”
The unit led the league with 33 takeaways in 2022. Turnovers tend to fluctuate year-to-year, but playmakers like Parsons and cornerback Trevon Diggs can help Dallas fight off regression.
“It’s iron sharpens iron every day that we step on this field,” said Prescott. “You can feel it. Micah alone can ruin a practice, but you put the other guys with him … I know they’re going to give a lot of quarterbacks hell.”
New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones will be the first on the menu for this Cowboys defense come Week 1.
