Dallas Cowboys Visions of Playoff 'Sugarplums'? Or Dak Prescott 'Road-Trip Excuses'? Top 10 Takes: FISH PODCAST

FRISCO - Dak Prescott is in a way speaking a naked truth about the Dallas Cowboys' need for self-reflection ... without getting too bogged down in it.

The Cowboys are 10-4 and postseason-bound, which is why always-optimistic team owner Jerry Jones can justify his visions of "sugarplums dancing'' in his playoff head. But ...

The Cowboys are 7-0 and outscore opponents by 24.4 points per game at home. ... while on the road they have 3-4 record and double-digit-margin losses to Arizona, San Francisco and Buffalo this past Sunday.

So on the one hand, Prescott says as the Cowboys prep for a Christmas Eve meeting at the 10-4 Miami Dolphins, "we've got to turn that (focus) up a little bit ... This is a team that prepares the right way, attacks the day the right way and it can't be any different when you go on the road."

At the same time, Prescott frankly noted that pinpointing the road-vs.-home reason might be a challenge not worth dwelling on excessively.

"I don't know if there is anything concrete, honestly," he said. "Different things you could say, 'Maybe it's this, maybe it's that.' But at the end of the day. The type of guy I am, the conversations we have, they are all going to be excuses."

Said Dak: "What a great opportunity now ... to get a chance to go out there and not necessarily redeem ourselves but pick our (bleep) up on the road and put a performance out there like we have at home and really moreso a performance that we know we're capable of."
