New York Giants QB Tommy DeVito Doesn't Fear Philadelphia Eagles Fans: ‘I Like a Hostile Crowd’
In the absence of Daniel Jones, rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito has injected some life into a New York Giants season that was lost from the word go in 2023. With two remaining matchups against the Giants over the final three weeks, the Philadelphia Eagles are about to get the full "Tommy Cutlets" experience, including a Christmas Day tilt at Lincoln Financial Field.
For his part, DeVito says he's excited for his first trip into Philadelphia as a professional and isn't backing down from the expected hostility that Lincoln Financial Field tends to bring.
"It's fun. It's part of the game. I like a hostile crowd," DeVito said Thursday.
DeVito added that he'll "say Merry Christmas right back" to any Eagles fans who may wish him season's greetings Monday evening.
The 25-year-old has been more than a fun story for the Giants this season. DeVito has appeared in seven games, and the Giants are 3-2 in the five contests he's started. DeVito has tossed eight touchdowns to three interceptions for coach Brian Daboll and company, while also adding in 190 rushing yards and a touchdown scamper.
Jalen Hurts Can Set NFL Record in Week 16
Still, this shouldn't be a game that quarterback Jalen Hurts and the Eagles have to struggle through. If the Eagles aren't able to defeat a 5-9 Giants team at home with relative ease, the crowd at Lincoln Financial Field will be much more hostile towards the home team than DeVito.
Despite losing three consecutive games, the Eagles will enter their Week 16 matchup against DeVito and the Giants as 13.5-point favorites, the largest spread in the NFL this week.
