Eagles WR A.J. Brown Reacts To Ja Morant Suspension: 'Sad Situation!'
The Memphis Grizzles have suspended point guard Ja Morant for the second time in two months following the emergence of a video on Saturday night where he was seen riding in a car flashing a gun on a social media livestream.
The incident marks another mistake by the young superstar, prompting Philadelphia Eagles star receiver A.J. Brown to share his perspective on the situation.
"Y’all better stop letting this music persuade you to crash out," Brown tweeted Sunday. "Half of them lying anyway. Sad situation (for real)."
Brown also made sure to share a reminder that "you are what you consume," sending a message to both his Twitter followers and Morant.
"You are what you consume," Brown tweeted. "What you watch, what you hear, and who you’re are around. Music got our generation in a chokehold."
In addition to placing blame on the music industry, Brown also held the individuals with whom Morant associates with accountable for some of his actions.
This is due to the fact that the video featuring Morant holding a gun was posted on his friend Davonte Pack's Instagram account while the point guard was rapping along to the lyrics of a song.
Despite his recent missteps, Morant, 23, possesses immense potential and a promising future if he can rectify his behavior.
Based on the information about the young NBA star's upbringing, he had a strong support system. He was raised in a middle-class neighborhood in South Carolina within a two-parent household. His father even made sacrifices by pausing his basketball career to stay home and raise Morant and his sister. He went above and beyond by constructing a basketball court in their backyard to facilitate daily training sessions for Morant and helped him achieve his dream of playing in the NBA.
For reasons unknown, Morant has seemingly departed from his upbringing and embraced a tough-guy image. While Brown attributes the music industry and Morant's associates as the primary influences, many other factors likely contribute to this shift in the NBA star's recent odd behavior.
Like the rest of the sports world, Brown is genuinely concerned about Morant and hopes that the NBA star does not jeopardize his future by clinging to an artificial tough-guy persona.
