Eagles QB Jalen Hurts For President? Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs Makes Prediction
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has had quite the start to 2023.
In February, he led the Eagles to Super Bowl LVII, where they fell short to the Kansas City Chiefs. Hurts also finished second in the NFL Most Valuable Player voting for the season, behind Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Then last month, the 24-year-old Hurts signed a five-year contract extension with the Eagles, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history on a per-year basis and keeping him with the team through 2028.
And now, this past Friday, Hurts received his master's degree in human relations from the University of Oklahoma.
Hurts walking across the stage in his cap and grown generated buzz on social media and even prompted Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs to give his opinion on a potential political career for the scholarly Hurts.
Sure, Hurts possesses the personality and qualities that make him a suitable presidential candidate. However, it's pretty improbable that Hurts would ever walk away from a lucrative $255 million contract as a quarterback to pursue a political career.
With his recent accomplishment, Hurts has now earned two degrees. In 2018, he completed his bachelor's degree in communication and information sciences from the University of Alabama. After transferring to Oklahoma for his graduate season in 2019, Hurts threw for 3,851 yards and 32 touchdowns while rushing for 1,298 yards and 20 touchdowns on the ground.
His performances helped lead Oklahoma to the 2019 Big 12 Championship and secured a spot in the College Football Playoff. Unfortunately, the Sooners' season ended after they were defeated 63-26 by LSU in the 2019 Peach Bowl.
Hurts has proven himself as a talented quarterback on the field and demonstrated his unwavering determination as a committed student. It's now hard to put presidential candidate out of his reach for career accomplishments after all he's done in a short time, though the fantasizing serves only as a compliment to Hurts' abilities rather than calling it a realistic endeavor.
