Eagles GM Praises TE Albert Okwuegbunam After Trade: 'All The Tools!'
On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Eagles added a new offensive weapon for quarterback Jalen Hurts when they traded a 2025 sixth-round pick to the Denver Broncos in exchange for tight end Albert Okwuegbunam and a 2025 seventh-round pick.
Following the Eagles' trade for Okwuegbunam on Tuesday, general manager Howie Roseman was asked about what the team liked in the newly-acquired tight end and praised the former Bronco for his physical abilities.
"Yeah, first thing you talk about Albert, you talk about the physical ability," Roseman said. He is 6-5. He is almost 260 pounds. He runs a 4.4. He's got a huge wing span. He has really good lower body flexibility for a big guy," Roseman said
Additionally, Roseman revealed that coach Nick Sirianni was impressed with his performance in his last game with Denver, which contributed to the team's decision to trade for Okwuegbunam.
"I think [Sirianni] remarked, not a lot of tight ends who have 100-yard receiving games in the preseason, and it was because he has a unique ability to uncover, he has lower body flexibility, he has speed, he has length. He has all the tools in his body," Roseman said
In the Broncos' preseason finale last week, Okwuegbunam was dominant, contributing to a commanding 41-0 win against the Los Angeles Rams at Empower Field. The 2020 4th-round pick caught seven passes for 109 yards and scored one touchdown.
Okwuegbunam will make his debut for the Eagles on Sept. 10 when the team travels to face the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium.
