Eagles To Continue RB Committee? 'See Who's Hot!'

The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to continue using a running back by committee approach this season.

The Philadelphia Eagles got a stellar performance from running back D’Andre Swift in Week 2's 34-28 win over the Minnesota Vikings. But despite this, could the Eagles be expected to continue their running back-by-committee approach the rest of the season?

"Not predictable," Eagles Insider Dave Spadaro wrote on a Reddit AMA. "Split. See who's hot. See what the matchup is. Interested to see how much Penny gets involved. Good to have Gainwell and Swift each with good games. Really like the way this is shaping up."

Swift was the featured back for Philadelphia in Week 2  against the Vikings. He had 28 carries for a career-high 175 rushing yards and a touchdown. In Week 1, Swift only got one carry for three yards.

Instead, Kenneth Gainwell was the RB1 against the New England Patriots in Week 1's win, getting 14 carries for 54 yards and catching four passes for 20 yards. Gainwell was inactive for Week 2 due to a rib injury, leading to Swift’s big day.

The Eagles have strong depth at running back with Rashaad Penny and Boston Scott on the roster as well.

"I think the idea is to rotate everyone, keep them all fresh and healthy and look at this thing game by game," Spadaro writes. "Swift isn't going to vanish from the rotation. Kenny is a very fine back as well. It's a positive situation at RB."

Philadelphia will play its Week 3 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium on Monday night. Will it be the running back by committee or will one back get the lion’s share of touches?
