Deon Cain, a sixth-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts in 2018, has spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles during previous offseasons, even appearing in the preseason for Philly last year.

As training camp gets underway, the Philadelphia Eagles are making a depth addition to their receiving corps.

Per reports Tuesday from KPRC2, the Eagles have brought back receiver Deon Cain, signing him to a contract. The details of the deal have not yet been released, but Cain could be headed toward a role on the practice squad with a chance to make it on the 53-man roster during training camp.

Cain, a sixth-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts in 2018, has spent time with the Eagles during previous offseasons, even appearing in the preseason for Philly last year. However, he's only played in 15 career games, none of which came with the Eagles.

Last season, he played in the USFL with the Birmingham Stallions and won MVP of the title game.

Cain has posted just nine catches for 124 yards during his career. He last appeared in a NFL game in 2020 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. His best performance came in his first-ever NFL game, as Cain totaled two catches for 35 yards in the Colts' Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in 2019.

The Eagles have two stars leading the receiving room with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, but lack depth at the position. Cain will have to prove he's worthy of the 53-man roster, something that could potentially be made easier due to Philly's need for  spark behind Smith and Brown.
