Eagles Embarrassed by Giants in Week 18, Secure No. 5 Seed in Playoffs
Not many 11-win teams have headed into the playoffs with more of a sour taste in their mouth than the Philadelphia Eagles, but Sunday's blowout loss to the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium saw some key injuries for Philly and more questions than answers pile up on what has been a dismal end to the regular season.
The Eagles (11-6) will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-8) at Raymond James Stadium in the NFC Wild Card next week after falling 27-10 to the Giants on Sunday, capping off a 1-5 end to the season.
Philly's day felt over before it began. Eagles receiver A.J. Brown exited with a knee injury in the first half and never returned. Rookie safety Sydney Brown was carted off. Jalen Hurts appeared to dislocate his finger in gruesome fashion before returning. These were just a few of the injuries.
The Eagles were already without big names like Darius Slay, Fletcher Cox, DeVonta Smith and D'Andre Swift. With the injuries piling up, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni pulled the starters before halftime with Philly already in a 24-0 hole at halftime.
Meanwhile, the Giants made things look easy. Saquon Barkley had 18 carries for 46 yards and two touchdowns. Veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor shook off an early hand injury and went 23 of 32 passing for 297 yards, one touchdown and one pick.

Philly didn't score until the 1:11 mark of the third quarter on a 36-yard field goal from Jake Elliott. The Eagles finally reached the end zone when Marcus Mariota found Quez Watkins for a 16-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter.
With almost no momentum at their backs, the Eagles will head into the playoffs with injuries along with on- and off-field issues to address.
