Eagles Trade Idea: Haason Reddick to Houston Texans?
Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Haason Reddick made it clear on social media Tuesday that he didn't request to be traded despite initial reports.
"Never asked for a trade," Reddick wrote on X.com. "However, I do understand it's a business. Preparing for whatever is next!"
But since business is business, the Eagles could still look to trade Reddick, who is entering the final year of his three-year, $45 million contract. Either he'll land an extension or get traded, with the latter seeming to be the likely move by general manger Howie Roseman.
In light of all the news, Pro Football Focus drew up a quick trade idea that would send Reddick to the Houston Texans in exchange for a 2024 second-round pick (No. 59 overall).
While a rising AFC contender like the Texans certainly wouldn't hurt from adding a pass-rushing talent like Reddick, giving up a valuable second-round pick for a guy entering his age-30 season may not be worth it. Still, Reddick has been to back-to-back Pro Bowls and recorded four straight double-digit sack seasons.
Eagles vs. 49ers Death Taunts Exchanged
In two seasons with the Eagles, Reddick has started all 34 games he's appeared in while posting 87 total tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 27 sacks, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and four passes defended.
Time will tell if Reddick's days in Philly are truly numbered. Until then, expect more endless trade speculation this offseason about where he could end up and what the compensation would be.
