Eagles EXCLUSIVE: Jalen Hurts Praised by Jay Glazer - 'That's What Made Tom Brady Great'
The Philadelphia Eagles and Jalen Hurts agreed to a five-year extension on Monday, locking him in as the team's quarterback through the 2028 season.
The extension is worth $255 million, making him the highest-paid player in league history. The contract will have over $179 million in guaranteed money, and Hurts will receive the first no-trade clause in Eagles franchise history.
Hurts' career dating back to his college days at Alabama has been a whirlwind of a journey. Now, he will be rewarded for his perseverance and admirable work ethic.
Many fans and people across the league were excited for Hurts, including Fox Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer, who talked exclusively with Eagles Today to discuss his admiration for Hurts following the record-breaking extension.
He chimed in for the fist time since the news was announced and spoke in depth about what makes Hurts so unique.
"Here's what makes Jalen Hurts different than most: Jalen Hurts is the most coachable guy in the league," Glazer said. "And I mean he's constantly trying to ask where he can get better, what he can do better, and he doesn't take offense to coaching."
Glazer even compared Hurts' work ethic to that of none other than the legendary Tom Brady. The Eagles clearly believe he has the "blue print" for greatness as well, considering the newly-struck deal.
"Listen to the blue print for greatness and find out who the best is and do more than them," Glazer said. "This dude does more than everybody. He outworks people in so many ways, and that's what made Tom Brady great. How I'm going to out-sleep, think, work, diet, train, film, you and Jalen has a lot of that."
Many may feel that Hurts' extension was an overpay after just one year of elite-level production. However, Glazer thinks the Eagles locked in their star signal-caller in what was a "win-win" for both sides, especially since Hurts' rare traits are ones that Glazer feels continues to set him apart.
"This was a great deal for the Eagles and in so many ways, locking him in, he never took offense he was fighting an uphill battle and ended up getting rewarded," he said. "It was win-win for both. Jalen is different, he's a different type of cat who he really comes at it with no ego at all. I really haven't seen a lot of guys who don't have that ego."
Glazer knows the NFL in and out better than anyone. His nod of approval should be a huge confidence boost for Eagles fans that general manager Howie Roseman pulled off what could potentially be one of the biggest moves in franchise history.
Now, Hurts will have to go out there and prove that he can live up to the expectations of his new deal. But considering all he's accomplished at this point in his career, who's to say he won't beat the odds again?
